Additional Information

I graduated from Michigan State University with a Ph.D. degree in Kinesiology. I have joined NC State in Fall 2019 for the Health and Exercise Studies program that offers a variety of sports, games, fitness, and wellness courses. Prior to my career with NC State, I worked at Georgia Gwinnett College and Miami University of Ohio teaching undergraduate courses in physical education, sport studies, and wellness and supervising student teachers of physical education in K-12 schools. During my academic career, my primary research interests have been in psychosocial aspects in sport/physical activity, teaching and learning in physical education, and martial arts studies. I served many professional organizations such as the SHAPE America as an academy committee chair, the Taekwondo Journal of Kukkiwon (the World Taekwondo Headquarters) as an editorial member, and the North American Society for the Sociology of Sport as a committee member of the graduate paper award. I am a black belt in taekwondo and a purple belt in jiu-jitsu. My martial arts experiences are associated with my strong desire to find new ways of educating students and disseminating knowledge in my academic discipline.
